It speaks about how deep down, we all feel alone. It speaks how we women believe these horrible lies about ourselves, that we’re not enough or too much. If you can get past that and focus on the other aspects of the book, it can be a wonderful tool.Ĭaptivating goes into all relationships that women have, including their relationships with men, friends, parents, and children. It does speak about women being damsels in distress with the dream of the knight on a white horse coming and rescuing her from the bell tower. Turns out, the book was extremely beneficial to me. However, I received several recommendations from Christian women that I trust, and I decided to see what it had to say. I was apprehensive at first, because I knew that John Eldredge’s writings, although well-intentioned, do tend to focus on romanticizing the roles of Christian masculinity and femininity, without much scriptural basis. I recently finished reading Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge.
